Möötikkärakka trail

The Möötikkärakka Trail is located in Songa, about 24.8 km northwest of the center of Rovaniemi, on the slope of Möötikkärakka, which rises on the east shore of Lake Sonkajärvi. Möötikkärakka is a scenic partly rocky hazard, from the top of which there are amazing views of Sonkajärvi and the dangers of the area.

The path goes up from the parking area to the east towards the Möötikkärakka viewpoint. At the beginning, the path rises steeply up to the danger, but later becomes gentler, partly following the slope of the danger, finally ending up at the rocky viewpoint of the roof of the danger. At the steepest points, the path is stepped and there are two rest benches along the path. The route's use time is during the thaw and its parallel length is about 600 meters. The route is well suited for day hiking. The path runs through an atmospheric pine forest with a dangerous slope. Along the trail, there are good berry-growing terrains along the dangerous slopes. The viewpoint is a rocky cliff with old trees, from where you can enjoy views of Sonkajärvi.

The services of the Möötikkärakka trai rely on the services of the nearby Oitolanranta. Oitolanranta is located approximately 2.1 km ahead of Leppiniementie. Oitolanranta has a log cabin in the Sonkajärvi shore scenery. The porch has a fireplace with benches around it. There is a wooden litter box and toilets nearby. There is also a performance stage, a grandstand and a boat launch in the area.

From the center of Rovaniemi to Kittiläntie about 20.7 km to Sinettä, from there to Pellontie about 9.7 km, from there left to Leppiniementie about 1.7 km, from there to the left to the parking area. There is an information board for the trail at the edge of the parking area.
